Choosing Flowers for Your Spring Wedding

Look no further for spring wedding flower inspiration!

Spring is brimming with life and beauty, and is truly a gorgeous season to celebrate love. And don’t even get me STARTED on how amazing spring flowers are! Oh, that’s exactly why you’re here? Well let's get into it then!!

If you are planning spring wedding flowers in Connecticut:

You probably want to know what is blooming when and which flowers will look best for your unique style – but the answers aren't always precise. Over the years of growing them myself, I’ve learned that Spring Flower availability changes WEEKLY and is super dependent on locality!

Bloom time is intimately linked and entirely dictated by the temperature shift from cold to warm; when (and how quickly) this shift occurs impacts flowering times from year to year, but I’ve narrowed the following combinations down to a typical bloom window here in Connecticut.

Read on for your key to which spring flowers are best for your wedding style, and the time window when they are in season:

For the most memorable wedding, fragrant flowers are key.

Go for Heirloom Daffodils and Forsythia Branches: These create a lively combination of reaching yellow flowered branches and fluffy butter cream toned blooms. Heirloom narcissus (aka daffodils more attractive cousin) will fill a room with an unforgettable fragrance and joyful pops of color. The say scent creates the strongest associations, so each spring you'll be flooded with the warm memories of your special day when the scented daffodils arrive. To balance it out, forsythia branches create movement and growth, just like your relationship.

This classic combination blooms in early to mid April in Connecticut; ask your florist about additional fragrant options throughout the season! Bonus fragrant flowers include hyacinths, peonies, and garden roses (locally grown only - imported roses have their scent nodules removed!).

For the romantic couple planning a Bridgerton inspired spring wedding in Connecticut

Tulips and Cherry Blossoms just might be the perfect match. Think Valentine’s Day but with a major glow up: romantic and dreamy, layered tulip petals build upon gorgeous white and pale pink cherry blossoms. And by the way - most fruit tree blooms also carry a lovely scent that will make your day all the more special and romantic.
Here in Connecticut, you can find this pink on pink combo in Late April to Early May.

For the nature loving couple seeking a gardenesque wedding style

Achieve -peek- spring garden style with Peonies and Dogwood. Full branches of rich foliage dotted with forward-facing white flowers are complimented perfectly by iconic ruffled peonies. The most sought after spring wedding flowers of all, Peonies also have the shortest season – only a couple of weeks and then they are gone for good.
Peonies bloom in Connecticut at the tail end of May though early-June, so plan accordingly for your spring wedding.

For those seeking something modern, quirky, and whimsical for their spring wedding

Ranunculus, Tulips, Anemones and Scabiosa are the way to go! Opt for flower-forward. These blooms offer the most color variety of all during spring. Go all in on ruffled ranunculus, tulips, and anemones and limit the foliage – you’ll be blown away by the resulting dynamic and dimensional designs. From radiant vibrant tones to gentle pastels, these showy spring blooms have it all.
You’ll find these flowers blooming in May and June in Connecticut.
